More information about the Lounge Chair: A perfect contradiction - the Eames Lounge Chair was designed as an update of the traditional English club chair with unashamedly modern and luxurious materials. The result, instantly recognised as a classic when it was unveiled in 1956, is something that is at once sophisticated and contemporary, yet familiar and timeless. Charles Eames described it as having "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseball glove".
